Rep Power: 16 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As some of you may know, i've had a new engine build in the works for a year now. I didn't want to jump the gun and say too much about it because there are custom parts made that could not be finalized until i knew they would all fit together in the block and balance out. Now that i have the custom pistons made to my specs, the rods modified to fit the application and the crank modified, nitrided and polished, i can say it's a 3.80L light weight rotating assembly. I had the piston tops coated with a heat barrier and the skirts with a dry film lubricant. The piston pins are H13 tool steel and are casidium coated to prevent galling in the piston bores. They are a larger diameter than stock for added strength yet lighter for more efficiency. I won't give specific weights or dimensions so someone won't try to copy and make money off of someone elses hard work, but i can say that if this engine had to compete, it would have all the best parts available. I am building it to keep up with all the modern sports cars coming out at a fraction of the cost. It's not going to be a dyno queen, or a drag car, i already have one drag car and that's enough to keep a crew busy and send you to the poor house. It will be a daily driver, just a badass one! I still have to make many parts, the headers, exhaust plumbing, intercooler plumbing, modified sidemount intercoolers, engine mounts, modify the oil pan, brackets for the accessories, i made adapters to relocate the oil filter assembly. I know there are others building engines for different purposes with off the shelf parts, but i always like doing my own thing, because it's my hobby and it makes the project more interesting to me. Here's pictures of some of the parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
